This hideous creature is a handmaiden of the Spider Goddess. It looks to you as though it is some kind of macabre mix between a giant eye and a huge tongue.

-Yochlol is rough.  Have spells on to fight Yochlol since it casts spells which damage your equipment and wields a spider-shaped dagger.  I killed her as a 25th level warrior solo but had Excalibur for protection from evil and sanc on and still fled to heal up via various potions and pills.
