Necromancers in General
Necromancers always have friends! They are to die for! That doesn't mean necromancers aren't lonely. It's hard to raise a family as a necromancer: you have to bring all the corpses together in one place.
Necromancers aren't for beginners. Granted, you must be a high level lord Vizier or Sorcerer to even want to remort to one.
Stats
Nec hitpoints seem to be on par with mage and mana seem to be a wee bit higher than mage, but less than sors.

Healing
Due to curse of decay, you can't heal from any divine spells - even potions or scrolls. Vizier heals likewise do not work.
Necromancers get meditation at level 5, and you can use leech and life drain at lowmort to heal.
There are also ways to heal from pets: skeletons should sacrifice themselves for healing (but as of Nov 3rd, 2025 - it's not in the game), and you can drain corpses for 20% healing.
Pet Creation
Necromancer pets are called Abominations. You can create them via unholy ritual at lowmort, undying ritual at low hero, chaotic ritual at super hero and lord.
Casting any of the rituals costs health, and the higher the tier of ritual the more health it consumes.
I'm not exactly sure of the different mechanics of the tiers of rituals, but currently it looks like undying ritual and chaotic ritual do the same thing, but one consumes more health. Perhaps this will be changed in the future.
Glows
Necromancers get specialized skills called glows which apply different affects to self, and are modified by any weapons buffed with manifest glow.

Advice:
- Document the clues (copy / paste into a text file).
- Read each clue. There are important things being told.
- You will die, so don't be afraid to try things.
- You will need to explore the mud and try things you might haven't before.
Necromancers at Lowmort Tier
At lowmort, necromancers feel like hitters, but they feel like mages as far as stats go.
You will probably spend a lot of your mana healing yourself with life drain and leech spells.
Make sure you're using your glow skills, so you can heal and do damage.
Remember that creating undead pets consumes max hitpoints, so the more pets you have, the less your max hitpoints will be.
Necros feel like hitters as their offensive spells aren't much, and their hitpoints don't allow them to be big hitters. However, they hit pretty hard at lowmort, and the skeletons hit hard.
You will want to create skeletons so they can hit for you. They won't steal kills and doesn't seem to spread the experience as group members (they aren't grouped with you). You can also order skeletons to charge and they will attack a random mob in the room and tank for you. Some advice:
- Spellup the skeletons using a priest bot.
- Give your skeleton's weapons - they will automatically wield them if the right level.
No Spoilers
You will want a Sacrificial weapon - which is a new weapon type for Necromancers. Not all weapons that have sacrificial keyword are necromancer type weapons. There is at least one weapon out there which doesn't have sacrificial keyword which is a Necromancer weapon.

Training
No Spoilers
At lowmort 15 and below, you can use Carl to practice.
After level 15, your trainer will be the Quest mob to remort: portal or teleport to them to practice more skills as you level past lowmort 15.
Practicing
Practice all Necro skills in this order:
- to get started: unholy ritual, undead minions, control skeletons, unholy ritual
- to heal: life drain, leech, blue glow, corpse drain
- to do more damage: more blood, a little blood, more gore, red glow, chaotic frequencies, desiccate
- to know how long spells last: lore, magic lore
- to replenish mana: meditation, siphon
- to better your melee weapon: manifest glow
- to travel easier: teleport, portal, nexus
- to debuf enemies: infest, rot
- for better pets: undead guards, control zombies, undead battalion
- to protect yourself: tombstone, death shroud
Worshipping
Since Necromancers feel like hitters, but they doing with with their spells to make pets, I picked Shizaga for worship. It has a 5% xp bump, offers nice hps, but great mana gains. I wouldn't pick Werredan b/c (at least how I play) you're not actually doing the hitting - your pets are. I find that it's more survivable at Hero to tank in AC and let your pets do the hitting. Since healing is a big issue, the less damage you take, the longer you can fight before regenning. Also, if your hitpoints get to o low, you can't make more pets nor corpse drain to heal.
Fighting
At Lowmort:
I recommend wearing hit gear for normal xp, and wearing tank gear with charged shield for your DC quest fight. As I'm not sure if pets can enter the fight room (I did my racial quests as a mage and sorcerer).
Soloing: Necromancers are great soloers once you get some pets. I would fight something close to your level that you can solo easily, then raise them as skeletons. Give the skeleton's weapon s, and regen. Then go kill harder stuff.
Tanking: At lowmort, I'm alawys tanking in hit gear at least until lowmort 40ish. When you get closer to hero level, you might want to swap to tank gear.
Hitting: Necros feel like hitters, but they're using their pets to hit and bash. Make sure to give your skeletons weapons.
Healing: You can't heal without regenning, or using spells like life drain, leech, or corpse drain. Remember, if you're using corpse drain you will need 10% of your hitpoints available or you will die.
