General Requests

Request: An area of the set up specifically for general lowmort help: i.e., good places to level, tips on soloing various classes, and other useful things that are hard to learn without someone pointing out (i.e., monk's toss skill makes the mob retarget to the highest person on the group's order, even if the battle has already started).

Update: Category pages have just been added for all AVATAR classes. I think that these pages would be good places to post tips on how to play each class most effectively. To help get things started and to provide some preliminary ideas for both format and content on these new class pages, I did a little preliminary work on Rogues, BCIs, and Assassins. The categories Lowmort Levels 1-10 through Hero would probably be great places to put information about getting through these levels/tiers most effectively. The categories Lowmort 1-10 Areas through Hero Areas would be great to post information about recommended areas to gain experience and such. Again, to help get things started, I added some suggestions on areas at these levels for others to revise and expand upon.

Update: Hurrah! Clerics and mages now have plenty of information posted about how to play their characters most effectively from levels 1 to 51(999). I hope to see these pages further revised, expanded, and corrected (as needed), and generally made increasingly useful over time. Perhaps they may also serve as examples for users interested in contributing similar information about other classes. Also, every skill and spell from level 1 to 51(999) now has its own page, though many of these are still blank for now. A lot of structure has been put into place but much work still remains to be done in fitting information into it. Warnings about tossing, for example, might be handy to post on Monks under Tanking, on Tanks (since other classes may use Toss while tanking, as well), and/or on Toss.

Update: Most pages for skills and spells now have minimal information. Various people are gradually adding useful information to our class categories. We still lack sufficiently-detailed info about where to gain XP at various level-ranges.

Request: We need more work done on areas. Each area should have, as a bare minimum, a portal point and walking directions. Extra information about experience or tips on how to run there would be welcome as well. Take a look at the areas in Incomplete if you would like to help.

Update: Every area in Avatar MUD from level 1 to 51 now has its own category, except for most of those created for 2005's lowmort area-building contest. There is still much work to be done, however.

Update: Every normal area listed here now has walking directions from at least one recall point, as well as keywords for at least one portal point within it where possible (or, in some cases, walking directions from a nearby portal point instead). Much work still remains to be done on other sections, though.

Request: A "suggested areas" portion in each of the area categories ((Category:Lowmort 21-30 Areas, Category:Hero Areas, etc). Each area listed would have a brief description of why it's suggested. Waite 20:32, 5 April 2006 (EDT)

Update: We now have section headers, at least. For now, I'm inclined to leave expanding these sections' contents to somebody else more knowledgeable and/or motivated than myself. Any volunteers?

Request: A table on Missile Weapons showing the suggested bows for various level ranges. Should have a separate column for bows, crossbows, etc. I'd do it myself but I don't know much about archers. Waite 11:03, 5 May 2006 (EDT)

Request: Directions on pages in the alias format (so with colons to separate each step (or action)). Would make for a lot easier direction usage. --MooNFisH 05:24, 7 June 2006 (CDT)

Request: More information on the devotion page. It says that some gods devotion increases certain in-game abilities, but it lacks any specific information. --Ignatius 22:35, 26 June 2006 (CDT)Ignatius

Request: The prestige classes need to have an easy way to add known race viability/hints to them... it's frustating to make a character and level them and then not be able to go to the prestige class. --Ignatius 05:48, 6 August 2006 (CDT)

Request: How about a page where players can add just general wisdom... like a page with a rough guide to AC at hero, or tips for tanking in hit gear, etc... or at least instructions on how to do this, and a rough guide on how we should create pages for this wiki.--Arcano 04:25, 19 October 2006 (CDT)

Update: Contributing describes how to create new pages in depth. For the sake of ease I'll go over the examples you mentioned. To make an article on "Tanking in hit gear" I would go to Rogues, find an appropriate spot in the article, and say something like "once you get big enough, you should try [[Tanking In Hit Gear]]. That will create a link to a non-existant article. Clicking on that link will give you a chance to create that article. Before you save your new page, you should probably put it in Category:Rogues and any other appropriate categories.

"Rough Guide To Hero AC" would follow a similar process. Go to Hero Tank Gear, edit that page, at the bottom put a little blurb like "Here's a [[Rough Guide To Hero AC]]. Save your changes, follow the link, and fill up the new page with your wisdom.

Thanks for your interest in making AvatarWiki a better place.

Request: Can keywords for teleporting be added to the mob pages for lowmorts without scry. I once tried to get to Sarphyre using the keyword baron with disasterous effects. ---All lowmorts with tele get scry before it... and practices aren't really an issue.--Arcano 04:25, 19 October 2006 (CDT)

Update: Most well-defined mob pages have keywords listed, including the infamous baron sarphyre. Waite 07:25, 19 October 2006 (CDT)

Request: Is it appropriate to make a page for trading? I feel like this is checked waaay more often then the auction boards. --Arcano 19:24, 8 January 2007 (CST)

No. Far too easy for someone to change the item being auctioned. A page with a link to the actual Auction forum would work though--Kerdor 08:31, 9 January 2007 (CST)

I'm not too worried about people changing items. So far all of you have been great about not vandalizing this wiki, and besides every page keeps track of its history, so it would be pretty trivial to undo any mischief. However, I don't want to be a meanie and take away traffic from Debonair's site. Would Kerdor's suggestion be acceptable? We could create a page entitled Trade Announcements or something, where you can post descriptions of what you're trading, and a link to the item on Debonair's site. Sound good? Waite 09:01, 9 January 2007 (CST)

Great idea! And a benefit is it'll probably encourage more people to use Debonair's forum --Kerdor 09:07, 9 January 2007 (CST)

The sounds fine: the only reason I didn't use the forums in the first place is that they're all but dead. --Arcano 14:51, 9 January 2007 (CST)
