Many lord runs require keys. The dwarf 2sw of Thorngate center (who also smiths your gear) will hold keys that you give to them. He charges a fairly steep rate (~20k) to buy them back, but it many cases it's better than having to reacquire the keys.
Also, after doing a Lodestone (reboot only) run, it's customary to put those keys on the dwarf, as a way of showing that the run has already been done.
