Talk:Main Page
It seems to be a lot of hassle to have a seperate page for an area and gear in an area. I highly suggest these get combined to say on category clutter and help ease of navigation. (You'll simply list the gear in an area IN the area page itself)
-PirateHero (re-edited to bring to top of list)
Seperate pages for everything. Categorizing will automatically create pages that have the list. Although I agree with your point about the summaries being easier than having to click on each link, I wouldn't find it unacceptable if both exisited. I know that for low mort this might seem like over kill but in the lord game I think most people would agree that having a seperate page for each is important.
Also don't worry so much about formating, I'm glad you like the way you're doing it, some people (perhaps even me) may change it, and that's okay too.

Guilds
It might be nice for somebody to put in directions to all the guilds, and by guilds I mean trainers.

Well i would do it but i dont know how to create a new page, i know how to edit but not create pages. -Elfangwor
This is a little trickier than it should be. The easiest way to create a page which doesn't exist yet is to create a link to it on some previously existing page. Then when you follow the link you'll be brought to a page where you can edit this new, nonexistant page. -Waite
So how about instead i find these and post them and someone makes the page for me eh?
Archer | arc Aelmon 5s, 3e, 2n, up, n, w
Cleric | cle Aelmon 4w, 3n, 3w
Mage | mag Aelmon 8s, 2w, 4n, open west, w, open north, n, 2u (requires see magic)
Warrior | war Aelmon 6e, n, 2e, 4n, 3w
thats what i know from memory (yes i tested), im working on the rest.
-Elfangwor (hates making links)
Rogue ael - 7n, 2e, 3s, e, pull hook, s (wirey man very aggie to non-rogues and only rog and asn can see the hook :P )
Assassin ael - 7n, 2e, 3s, e, pull hook, s, op d, d (again wirey man very aggie)
Berserker ael - 6e, n
Monk ael - 14n, w, 3n, w, n, op e, e, 2n, 2w, 3s, op s, s (monks are very aggie to all non-monks)
Paladin ael - 8e, 3n, op w, 2w
Priest ael - 2w, op n, n, 2u, 2e, s, op w, 2w
Psionicist ael - 8s, 2w, 3n, op n, n, op w, w op w, w
Sorcerer ael - 9w, 4s, op e, e
Wizard ael - 6w, s
-Zammzt (most shouldn't be aggie but no promises so if your not the class and going to the guild be carefull)
Started to set up the page... Category:Trainers I would hope to have the actual mobs that teach listed on that page, with the path-info on the page of the mobile (to make the info on the Trainer-page less long and specific).

Creating new pages
Another way to create a new page is to just directly go to the URL. See in the address bar of your browser where it says ?title=Talk:Main_Page just replace the 'Talk:Main_Page' with the page you want to create. So the complete new link would be http://avatar.melanarchy.info/index.php?title=My_New_Page_Name to create a new page 'My New Page Name' for a new category put Category:New_Category_Name I think you see where this is going.
The reason why there isn't a way to create new pages other than what Waite said (linking to them and then following the link) is because if you don't link the page from any exisiting pages nobody will be able to get to it. The page becomes what the wiki calls an "orphaned" page. You can see the orphaned pages by following the link from the Special Pages section of the tollbox. Orphaned pages don't do anything helpful and are not really a part ot the wiki.
What does all this mean Mel?
I don't believe anybody should ever be using the method I described above to create new pages. Figure out what page is going to bring people to your new page, make a link, follow that link, add to the page, categorize the page. That should be the work progression that everybody follows when making a new page.

Contact Information
It may be helpful to provide some means of contacting those folks in charge of this site.
Also, I recently posted a table of quick ways to increase one's gold supply, which I and others have found handy. I titled this article Treasure and put it under the Miscellaneous category. I was wondering if perhaps there was a better name for it, a more appropriate place to put it, a better way to organize its content, or a better way to integrate it with the rest of the site. Or if it's just dandy like it is. Anyway...
Well contacting Waite or I is a perfectly reasonable idea, but don't worry so much about what you think is right and what you think is wrong. This is a Wiki, the very idea is that everybody participates, and if somebody thinks something should be moved, they move it. I think you chose the perfect location for the page, and I think it's great. --Mel 17:51, 5 May 2005 (EDT)
Area name typo - moving /merging
Not able to fix this: area 41-50: 'Labyrinth Of Despair' is the correct name, but there is a gear and area page made for 'Caverns Of Despair'
Can't rename/move as a blank page for Lab now exists. I reied with making the page redirect to Cavern and then move, but nope

I'll look into this when I get a chance later tonight. --Mel 17:52, 5 May 2005 (EDT)
I just checked on the MUD, I guess there's two distinct areas, labyrinth of despair and caverns of despair. the labyrinth is the area with the eye of the beholder. So, just change links/categories as necessary and everything should be fine. No need to move/merge, since they should remain separate.

Transporting this here from the main page:
Is there a way to add the top 5 most-viewed pages to this page? Other than manually setting them each time? If so that'd be a nice thing to add here.
And here's the answer: You can easily see that, and all other sort of interesting information, by checking out the "Special Pages" link off to the left, in the toolbox. If you want, we could link to the most popular pages link on the main page, but as of now some of the most popular pages are random test pages that I created some time ago. As always, feel free to edit this thing to your heart's content. Do whatever you think will make this site more interesting and useful for your fellow avatarians. -Waite
Downtime
Sorry about the downtime yesterday everybody, I upgraded my server and forgot to turn php safe mode back off.
I have a great new webmail client though. Everything should be working now, let me know if you find anything that is not.
