There was one day a few years ago when the imms left on debug info for enchanting.  It would show you what number you needed to roll (out of 100) to be successful, and then what you actually got.  So for good hero gear you would see stuff like:

Success at 95.  You rolled: (0-5)

(vape)

Success at 95.  You rolled: (6-10)

Success at 95.  You rolled: (11-94)
 +
(nothing)

Success at 95.  You rolled: 95-100

As an aside, this also explains why the best hero gear only brills and never shimmers.  But back on topic, IMO intelligence influencing fade vs brill is all horsefeathers.  Otherwise spr mags would brill way more frequently than gia wars, which I haven't noticed in my experiences.  I'm pretty sure level does matter.  One way to convince yourself of this is to camp the [[Scroll Written In Blood]] until you have a statistically significant number of them, and then compare your fading success reciting those vs casting with a hero.  [[User:Waite|Waite]] 19:31, 31 October 2008 (UTC)

Does anyone have any numbers or evidence to show that lower intelligence, class, race, etc affect ability to fade/enchant/brill?

There was one day a few years ago when the imms left on debug info for enchanting. It would show you what number you needed to roll (out of 100) to be successful, and then what you actually got. So for good hero gear you would see stuff like:

Success at 95. You rolled: (0-5) (vape)

Success at 95. You rolled: (6-10) (fade)

Success at 95. You rolled: (11-94) (nothing)

Success at 95. You rolled: 95-100 (brill)

One way to convince yourself of this is to camp the Scroll Written In Blood until you have a statistically significant number of them, and then compare your fading success reciting those vs casting with a hero.
