Requests
Request: An area of the set up specifically for general lowmort help: i.e., good places to level, tips on soloing various classes, and other useful things that are hard to learn without someone pointing out (i.e., monk's toss skill makes the mob retarget to the highest person on the group's order, even if the battle has already started).
Update: Category pages have just been added for all AVATAR classes. I think that these pages would be good places to post tips on how to play each class most effectively. To help get things started and to provide some preliminary ideas for both format and content on these new class pages, I did a little preliminary work on Rogues, BCIs, and Assassins. The categories Lowmort Levels 1-10 through Hero would probably be great places to put information about getting through these levels/tiers most effectively. The categories Lowmort 1-10 Areas through Hero Areas would be great to post information about recommended areas to gain experience and such. Again, to help get things started, I added some suggestions on areas at these levels for others to revise and expand upon.
Update: Hurrah! Clerics and mages now have plenty of information posted about how to play their characters most effectively from levels 1 to 51(999). I hope to see these pages further revised, expanded, and corrected (as needed), and generally made increasingly useful over time. Perhaps they may also serve as examples for users interested in contributing similar information about other classes. Also, every skill and spell from level 1 to 51(999) now has its own page, though many of these are still blank for now. A lot of structure has been put into place but much work still remains to be done in fitting information into it. Warnings about tossing, for example, might be handy to post on Monks under Tanking, on Tanks (since other classes may use Toss while tanking, as well), and/or on Toss.
Request: We need more work done on areas. Each area should have, as a bare minimum, a portal point and walking directions. Extra information about experience or tips on how to run there would be welcome as well. Take a look at the areas in Areas That Need Descriptions if you would like to help.
Update: Every area in Avatar MUD from level 1 to 51 now has its own category, except for most of those created for 2005's lowmort area-building contest. There is still much work to be done, however.
Update: Every normal area listed here now has walking directions from at least one recall point, as well as keywords for at least one portal point within it where possible (or, in some cases, walking directions from a nearby portal point instead). Much work still remains to be done on other sections, though.
